Lockbox, you are lying. There is no doubt about it. You will not be able to call the elder abuse people, be granted an interview, have them investigate the situation, make a determination, and give you their decision on the matter in one day. Not only would it not happen, it couldn't happen anywhere near that quickly.

As to your aunt being incompetant; she is incompetant when she is incompetant. If the lawyer took any of the actions you claim he took after saying what you claimed he said, he would be a fool. I have no doubts what you are claiming transpired actually did not. I suspect that if here is something coming in the mail, it is likely to be a letter to you demanding you refrain from making any contact with your aunt as it is obvious it if you who has mental issues.
Stop ruffling those ducks' feathers!

I dunno Justalayman...I once called the elder protection hotline regarding one of my clients. They reported back to me within 24 hours (which surprised me, I didn't expect them to notify me of anything) and she had already been placed in a nursing home. Now, her situation was different than this one because she didn't have a caretaker, but I was surprised at how quickly they moved.

Dickie posted at 2:30 her time that she had contact aps that day and APS had done all
of their investigation by that time (which ducky is claiming was no investigation at all) by then. If there was any validity to the story of financial abuse, it would not have been resolved in that time frame.

Oh yeah - this is a case of the OG Effect if ever there was one!

(Like everyone else, I'm wondering what the heck the RCW has to do with Indiana...)

Moving quickly is one thing, LdiJ. Happening across the Usain Bolt of elder abuse investigators is quite another. ;)

In Orin's situation I presume it had to do with they physicAl health or safety of the person hence being placed in a nursing home and why they would react ASAP. In this situation where there
Appears to be no immediate threat of health or safety but financial abuse, an investigation would not be a must be done immediately issue and due to that and the possible complexity of the investigation itself, it just wouldn't happen overnight. Heck, I would be surprised if anybody started anything on the day ducky called. A financial abuse investigation is just so much more com

I was merely pointing out that I had an example of the elder protection people moving very quickly...IN INDIANA...which I actually hoped would happen in this case since the sister is apparently attempting to sell the aunt's home out from under her.

Now, my reason for making the report was because when the client was sitting in front of me it was clear that she was not competent (and should NOT have been driving a car) and she owed 25k in taxes because she had emptied a retirement account and could not tell me where the money went...and admitted that her son made her sign things that she didn't understand.

I do have the same sense here as everyone else, that the OP is more concerned with protecting his/her own inheritance than protecting his/her aunt, but nevertheless the aunt deserves help...and if the OP's own possible greed makes sure that happens, then at least the aunt will get some protection.

I don't think you are picking up on the sense that many here believe that both lockbox and his/her situation are fictional. ;)

No...I didn't pick up on that sense. Mea Culpa.

Nevertheless, to me the overall issue is an important one because I see similar things happen far more often than I would like...even when elderly adults are competent.

I agree with you that elder abuse is a serious problem, LdiJ. Definitely no argument there.
