OP? And the tags and stickers are registered to this car I have the registrations for the last 6 years showing them on there. I have made no alterations of any shape or form. The registration has the vin that matches this car and these plates
And the officer said the tags are registered to my car but it's showing them expired. He was implying that I illegally obtained the stickers. But the stickers have id numbers on them that change every two years. The number on my stickers and current registration match as they would as there legit and legally obtained. He told me when he scanned my new registration that nothing comes up in his system. There not showing the stickers registered to any car. It seems to me there are only two possibilities, 1 A error on the mva's part on processing my Information related to this new registration. Or 2 The mva location is running some type of scam (highly doubtful) in which case I have all my paper work and receipts to prove they sold them to me. Even used a credit card so I have my bank statement showing the charge

I believe he is saying that's exactly what happened. The LEO probably felt that he had no choice; his results were showing something wasn't right, even though the guy he pulled over insisted that it was. So he wrote him the tickets and decided to let the judge (and MVA) sort it out.

I think this is probably a system failure that should be able to be sorted out by the OP going back to MVA and explaining what happened, getting an official document from them that he did in fact have the proper plates, etc. and taking that to court on the date assigned. I don't see a need for an attorney unless MVA refuses to cooperate.

And OP? I'd go in person to the MVA. People are more inclined to help other who are right in front of them.

so when you showed the cop all this legit paperwork showing which MVA center you purchased this from and the brand new paperwork showing the tags were valid and current, he simply walked away telling you to show it to the judge?
He said he spoke with his supervisor while running my information. And informed me that this is a offense I could be arrested for. But he wasn't going to do that, but still had to charge me. And that I will have to go to court and present my paper work to a judge. So long story short Yes. Justalayman what would I benefit from lying to you. The truth of what I'm telling you should not be up for debate. I'm here because I have a legal problem which I would like advice on. I'm sorry if I'm getting the wrong message but it seems your very doubtful of my situation. Which I understand because if I thought something was wrong I would have never risked driving my car. I am the provider for my family. Which dosent mean much to some. But is everything to me. And I would not risk my ability to do that on anything

I renewed on a Thursday and was ticketed on a Saturday
sure seems like a long time for it not to be registered but there have been stranger things happen before.

none that I know of but that doesn't stop many posters from lying for whatever reason. Yes, I am a bit suspicious of most that ask questions. It's kind of the nature of the beast. I guess part of my suspicion came from you being so overly concerned of incarceration and such when as long as your claims are true, this should be solved easily. It just didn't feel right.

anyway, if it is as you state, my apologies. If not, shame on you.

Yes it does seem like a long time which is why I think someone is at fault for not doing there job. And as far as the worry of being incarcerated. I am very worried what if I don't know what to say if I represent my self. The judge only knows whats is in front of him or her. What if I don't have the acceptable form of proof. As I can take a pretty good guess what I need to bring. What if I'm wrong and don't have something. Do I then go to jail for not being prepared. And if so my family would suffer as I am the only source of income. And we're not poor but by no means. But we do not have extra money just siting around to throw away on counsel when I didn't do anything wrong. And i appreciate that and understand I'm sure you get some wacky people on here. But I'm not one of them. Thank you very much for your advice

My father always told me there's two people in the world you never lie to your lawyer and your doctor. And I've just kind of stuck by that. And to me for the time being your all are my lawyers.

Ah, but I am...

justalayman!!!!!

no claims to being one of them danged lawyer types here. :p

but there are a few around here but there are also a lot of smart people that aren't lawyers around as well.

here is one thing;

if there is a chance of incarceration and for some reason you do not get this figured out before facing the court, be absolutely certain you plead not guilty but even just as important, if you cannot afford a lawyer, ask for a public defender.

Well guess thats it I will keep you all updated in a week or two when I have more information thank you for everyone's input
