Good grief!

The lying didn't make either of you role models, either.
there was no lying! it just never really got brought up. She saw him once or twice when she was ages 2 - 5. So she never knew anything of him. Ansd she always knew her last name was different than mine. It didn't become any type of issue until she decided to use the excuse of "you're not my father" to not listen.

You're right. this is a legal forum. And I got way off track. All I wanted to know was if there were any legal actions that could be taken to make her stop missing school, even though she was over the Compulsory Attendance Age for my state. I got the answer,so thank you.

Everytime you allowed her to call you dad without telling her you were her stepfather was LYING to her. Everytime you and mom didn't correct her. Everytime you and mom didn't tell her about her real father -- who he was -- you were lying. The child most likely feels betrayed and angry at the fact that the people she thought she could trust she can't because they are frauds and liars.

He didn't sign over parental rights.

The issues in your household run much deeper than a legal forum can help with. Seek therapy for everyone before your (plural) hard-headed actions further damage the child(ren).
I completely agree with this with the situation they're in. Esp if she was old enough to understand she had been lied to when she was told the reality. Seriously, I'll never understand how parents can lie to their kids about who their fathers/mothers are. :(

Actually you can't discipline the child at all legally. Mom would have to do that. You are NO ONE legally. Legally you can't force the child to pay rent/utilities or whatever. Mom can allow her child to drive her vehicle and not pay a dime and do whatever she wants. MOM is the only legal parent.

And, as you stated earlier, your wife apparently agrees.
And even if mom doesn't feel that way, even if she sees him 100% as dad and this 100% being part of his responsbility, the child still sees it that way. So it doesn't really matter whether mom thinks that or not.
