What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina
Hello, my name is Jamie and I am a resident of North Carolina. I was wondering if you guys could give me some pointers on my current situation. Okay so, Valentines day night, I was in the Walmart Parking lot, backing out of my parking space.
Before backing up, I checked all my rearview mirrors, looked at the rearview camera and continued looking back while I was in reverse. A second later, some lady parked across to me in a parking space backed out right after I did. I saw her and I immediately hit the breaks, she continued backing up and she ran into my rear left bumper causing a bowling ball size dent while her car only suffered minor scratches.
I guess she wasn't paying attention because she had 3 kids in the car, a man and a old women. After that, we exchanged information but did not call police because she agreed to paying for my damages. Later on, she decides she wants to take the insurance route, I made a claim with her insurance and a week later, I got denied. I called the driver of the other car and she said she thought that her insurance would pay for it.
I'm not sure what to do now, if there is any feedback that can be given to me, I would greatly appreciate it.
