I paid $1500 for auto repairs at a shop. Two weeks after repairs the car was consuming an exorbitant amount of oil which wasn't a previous concern and running the same way as before I took it in for repairs. Called the shop on several occasions and received the run around. Since I believed that the high oil consumption was due to improper repairs, I made an appearance at the shop with the vehicle. I spoke to the person at the counter and let them know that I, myself am an ASE certified mechanic and would like to talk to someone about the repairs made to the vehicle. Store personnel was rude and impatient. They then say they need to call the manager. Manager comes out and I ask if they could run a compression test to see if the problem they supposedly fixed failed for some reason. The manager then got in my face and started yelling for me to get out of his shop. I told him to get out of my face and calm down, I need to resolve this issue as I had a buyer traveling from out of state to pick up the car. He continues to be irate yelling at me to get the f off of his property. I leave the store and he follows me outside. He then yells for me to get my n word ass off his property. I am standing at my car door and yell back you need to honor your work because I've paid $1500 for nothing. He then goes in the building and comes back out. He walks up to my car and puts a gun in my face telling me that I need to get the F off his property. I get in the car and leave.

I go to the police station to file a report and was told that I shouldn't have been on his property. I filed the report any way and left. I am out $1500, a running car, lost out on an opportunity to make a sale, and had a gun put in my face.

I am a non violent person. Never any altercations, in school or in my adult life. No criminal history. Been a certified mechanic for 8 years, in the Air Force, and a student at southern poly.

I desperately need legal advice on what my options are.

Thank you

Take the car somewhere else, preferably to an ASE Master Mechanic who will appear in court on your behalf.
Then sue the bad man.

If the police didn't take a report for the threat, you can escalate it to the supervisor.

I get threatened all the time. If you are a confrontational person you learn to live with it. As you have not indicated the particulars of the repair or circumstances it is hard to comment on collectability. It does however sound like you tried to patch and dump the car on another person unsuccessfully.

1500.00 for repairs is hardly a "patch".
