I live in Michigan, my car was financed out of California. My car was repossessed on Friday March 21st. I've been doing a lot of research regarding what happens and what should happen once a car is repossessed. One thing I have read is they are to send you something in the mail regarding the repossession and where the car is located. I have spoken to my account rep once, on the following Monday, regarding a payoff amount. I requested he email me a letter regarding that pay off amount and when it was valid until. It was a settlement amount, not the actual payoff. This is the only thing I have received from them, which I probably wouldn't have had I not requested it. Can someone tell me if there are certain steps they are to follow, regarding contacting me and time frames? I'm trying to buy myself a little more time, if possible, to be able to pay off the car and get it back. Thank you!

I would think the time has passed for working out a deal. Didn't the bank contact you in the past about what you owe?
