What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Pennsylvania.
I used to attend the Wharton school in the University of Pennsylvania. In my first semester, I was extremely busy. I was working 20-30 hours a week. In the first semester my advisor recommended that I take mgmt 100. The course is extremely time consuming and demanding and I didn't have the time to devote to taking the course. I talked with my professor and TA and they both recommended going to my advisor and discussing it with her. I went to my advisor and told her all of my trepidation regarding my enrollment in the course at that moment. She insisted that I continue taking the course even though I didn't have the time and I wasn't prepared for it. She never attempted to recommend other courses for me to take so I wasn't sure what courses were right for a first semester freshman to take. I ended up failing the course and now they dropped me from the rolls. What further action should I take legally? Thank you for all your help!

Who ultimately makes the decisions? Who is paying for the school? Who ultimately passes or fails a course?

See, now, it's that person you should be mad at. That's the person who decided overextending was a good idea.

but they dropped you for ONE failed class?

along with the others, if you felt it over extended you, you should have dropped it before it affected your grade.

She insisted that I continue taking the course even though I d
insisted? Really? Maybe urged or encourage or recommend or suggest but insist? Never knew an adviser had the power to insist you take a specific class at any particular time.

She never attempted to recommend other courses for me to take so I wasn't sure what courses were right for a first semester freshman to take.
by the designation, management 100 is the lowest level of class you can take. Any college I know if, if there is an intro to that class, it would be a non-credit class. That means the average freshman should be able to handle it.

You have no claim against the adviser or the school.

Management 100 is a required fall semester freshman class at Wharton. I am not sure what else the advisor could have advised.
