I'm just wondering regarding the technical definition of driving as it pertains to DWI/DWAI in NYC and/or NYS if they are different.

Do I have to be actively driving? Is it sitting in the driver's seat with the keys in the ignition? Is it keys in the ignition period?

Just wondering, any responses will be helpful!

It's called "operation of a motor vehicle".

The vehicle does not have to be in motion for it to be considered operation.
