Ohio. My daughter is moving from Ohio to Florida with my 2 year old grandson, but she is living with a guy that has some felonies on his record, including domestic violence. Is there a way to block her from taking my grandson down there with this guy? The bio-dad is not in the picture.

Thanks!

Nope. You have no say so. You have no rights to your grandchild. No inherent rights at all.

That's what I pretty much thought, although I thought maybe since the guy has a domestic violence against him that might block it.

Thanks!

Was the DV he committed against your daughter or grandchild?
What was the code he was convicted under?

Still nothing you can do about it (calling CPS with iffy details notwithstanding).

I'm confused as to why you seemed to think that you could block anything.

I do get the point.

I just wanted to know if OP knew the "felony" that the father was "convicted" of.

But. It. Does. Not. Matter. :)

Oh I didn't intend for it to sound snarky - if it came across that way, I'm sorry! I'm in a total snark-free zone at the moment :)

But yeah, it doesn't matter. And I think we can all agree that there's one or two things missing from the story...

You didn't seem snarky. At all. :)

All I am doing is looking out for my grandson. Nothing more. The guy she is living with is NOT the father. But he has been convicted of two felonies, among other lesser offenses. And he's still married to another woman.

My daughter has never been a parent to this child, and he has lived with us since birth. It wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't living with this new guy, who she's only known for less than a year.

Sorry if some of you can not see why I would like to block him from moving down there. There's huge concerns as far as the guy, and frankly with the mom too. But if there's nothing legally that I can do, then so be it.

There truly is nothing that you can do.
