What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TEXAS
I'm seeking advice regarding the use of confidential information.
I as a sophomore was informed by my friend who asked the counselor through electronic communication (an email) that a class i signed up for would be an honors course .
A year has passed and i now find myself in the class. It hasn't become honors; when i asked the counselor to switch me out and into another honors course she said you need proof that you were told it is an honors course. I said "i was told the class would be honors by you" . And she denied it!
So now i am going to print the email that my friend received from her a year ago stating that the class would be honors and show her that she DID say that the class would be honors.
But I am afraid because the email states this at the end " Notice of Confidentiality: This electronic communication contains confidential student record information intended solely for school business by the individual to whom it is addressed. Any disclosure (verbal or in print), copying, distribution, or use of this information by an unauthorized person is prohibited."
Do you guys know of any laws that would let me use the email as proof that I was told by her that the class would be honors even though it was addressed to my friend?
Also on our school scheduling sheets where we pick classes the course was listed as an honors class. So are there any laws regarding misinformation and how I was deceived that could help me switch classes?
PLEASEE HELP ME!!!
