Travel abroad - owe taxes

Is my travel abroad restricted while I pay federal taxes I owe via an installment plan? (The installment plan has already been arranged, and several payments have been taken out).

No, not at all. A situation could be severe enough where the IRS would take steps to have a court restrict someone from having a passport if they owed back taxes, but it would have to be a very severe situation. In a situation that severe, one would NOT be granted an installment plan.

I can't imagine a situation where the IRS COULD do that. The only instance I can think of is someone under criminal investigation and DOJ steps in. Otherwise, the IRS has no jurisdiction to impede travel at home or abroad.

That is the kind of thing I was referring to...which is obviously not the case for the OP.
