I'm a barber and working weekends is a must. I work Friday and Saturdays from 8- 8 and then Sundays 8-5. She wants every other weekend off but the issue with that is I won't have anyone to watch the baby on the weekend and I won't get to spend time with her on those days. The schedule we have now is Sunday 630-Wednesday 630 but she no longer wants that schedule because she doesn't get weekends off. Can the court grant her alternating weekends? Florida law

Could a court make such an order? Yes, the court could. Realistically would a court make such an order? Highly unlikely if you argue it properly. The courts are generally not inclined to make orders that are clearly unworkable.

A conundrum, for sure. I can understand a parent wanting some off time - I'm sure you can, too. So what out of the box thinking can you come up with? Are those the only two days a week that you work? What is Mom's work schedule?

Mother works m-f 9-5
I work Thursday through Sunday. Made that schedule after the separation. I'd really like to have the baby on my days off.

So would most parents.

However, most parents have to work, like Mom. Like you. So you'll have to compromise.

Google "parenting plans" for your state. Read them. See what options are out there. Propose a couple of them to Mom.

The problem here is that Mom *doesn't* want the kid on her days off - she wants kid-free down time on her days off.

Mom wants Dad to have visitation time on days that he is working and she is not.

It is unclear whether she also wants to eliminate some of the visitation time he has on his days off.

I was just going to say the same - Mom wants some kid-free free time - when most other adults get it. On a weekend. I get that. I don't think it's unreasonable for Dad to have some kid time when he, too, has to sort out child care. It's complicated with the two conflicting work schedules.

Why not split the difference?

Saturday at 630pm - Tuesday at 630pm?

Then she gets at least 1 night to go out with friends and you still some time on your days off.

Be flexible.

She won't go for that either. She wants time off, kid free time. I want the baby on my days off.
That's neither realistic nor reasonable on your part. Have you given any thought to when she is older and starts school? Kindergarten is not as far away as you may think.
