What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey

Hi. I recently just moved and in middle school. I used to go to Monroe Township Public schools up from the age of 5-12. I had great grades up until 6th grade, which became more average (As, Bs, and Cs). I started school on the 1st of September in the Gloucester Township Public Schools. I was wondering if they would allow me to transfer back to Monroe Township Public Schools. My old house was 1.8 miles away from the middle school. My new house is now 7.2 miles away from the middle school. If my mom or dad were willing to provide transportation to/from the school, would they allow me to switch from Mullen Middle School to Williamstown Middle School? (Monroe Twp. and Gloucester Twp. are in the same county)

erntano, at the end of my post I have provided you with three links to the same New Jersey website with different information on schools of choice in New Jersey. You can look these over with your parents.

I am afraid that, after my own brief look, I do not see that Monroe Township Public Schools or Gloucester Township Public Schools are listed as being in school of choice districts. But, again, my search was a brief one and you and your parents might find something I missed that would make it possible for you to switch back to your old, preferred school district.

Wherever you wind up this year and in the years that follow, erntano, I wish you much success with your studies. I am sure you will find good new friends in your classes.

Sorry, looks like it's not going to happen.

The booklet you provided a link to, adjusterjack, was published in 2005. New Jersey has changed its laws on school choice since that time.

The links I provided are for the 2015 to 2016 school year and detail the school of choice program criteria. Residency in a district is not one of the criteria.

That said, I do not see that the school erntano wishes to attend or the one he is scheduled to attend are in school of choice districts.
