Rewrite Car Lease Contract...

Today the dealer sent me its copy. It has one extra wife's signature. She is saying that it doesn't seem her signature.

I don't want to full review of documents online. I'm just trying to understand if it's safety to sign "Acknowledgment of the Rewritten Contract" and new contract if old and new contracts are identical. Thank you.

One would think that if the old and new contracts were actually identical, then there is no need to rewrite the contract. Because of this, there would seem to be a difference of some kind. That difference should be clarified. If there is no difference, then why the need for the form?

Because on dealer's there're two signatures of co-buyer in the same line. But on my copy there's one signature of co-buyer.
I want to be sure that there is no trap from the dealer side because I don't understand how this second signature appeared on copy of the dealer.

I honestly doubt that the dealership is trying to pull a fast one. With that said, I'd still recommend that you make sure that the Acknowledgment of Rewritten Contract is reworded to show that the original contract remains in full force and that the only reason for a revision was to correct the duplicated signature. That form can be dated with the current date, but make sure it doesn't modify any terms in the contract.

" I hereby acknowledge that the original contract entered into between myself and ...(dealer's name)... has been mutually rescinded and no longer any legal effect. The sale was rescinded for the following reason: co-buyer signed on the buyer line of the contract. I understand I my be entitled to a complete refund of all consideration previously paid by me, including return of my trade, if applicable. (If my trade has been sold I have been offered the amount allowed on the contract< less any actual payoff amount awing, or its fair market value). I hereby freely and voluntary elect into a different contract for the purchase of the vehicle as evidenced by my signing the rewritten contract referenced above. I understand I do not have to agree to any change in the original terms and conditions. No form of duress or pressure has been exerted against me by any person at ...(dealer's name)..."

Is it safety to sign it?

If it were me, I'd write my own letter to them in lieu of sending their form. In layman's terms I'd acknowledge that I'm signing an exact copy of the original contract in order to correct an error in location for the signature.

It's up to you - just keep in mind that, generally speaking, the "title" of a document isn't what "counts".

What if the second signature is forged (my wife strongly believes in that)? Should I contact to police?
