What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
I signed up for T Mobile cell service and when I tried to cancel, I was abused and exploited by customer service by putting me on infinite hold (I waited for 1.5+ hours each time).
I told my credit card company to block them so they outsourced it to a third party debt collector Credence to force me to pay the extra month's fee + interest to settle the case "amicably."
This is clearly their fault for not allowing me to cancel through unethical business practices. The original fee was 60$ .. now it is $80. I can easily pay the fee, but this is plain unfair. Also, would that be an admission of guilt?
I even called T Mobile headquarters which I have record of and they claim they will settle it and not need me to pay. But this turns out not to be the case.
What should I do?
Ignore them? Or pay the 80$ fee so they stop raising it and bothering me?
How can I settle this so it doesn't harm me legally/ hurt my credit?
Do they have any power over me legally?
