What's the likelihood that a summons issued in Illinois would be served in a different state if the defendant is just visiting a friend there? Assume the whereabouts of the defendant during that time can be calculated.

Are there ways to do this? If so, how does it work?

Is the defendant an Illinois resident being sued in Illinois but currently visiting a friend out of state? Or is the defendant an out-of-state resident currently visiting a friend in Illinois?
