What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wisconsin/Illinois
Okay, so I'll start out by saying I have $80,000 of student loan debt, and no way to pay it off. I'm wondering if there is any legal avenues I can take based on the situation.
I went to the Illinois Institute of Art from 2007-2009, after which I was not allowed to continue due to outstanding student loans. I left school and started trying to repay them. By the time I tried to get back into school, none of my credits would transfer, despite the school claiming they would. A couple months later, the original school cancelled the program I was in, thus making it impossible for me to return and finish my degree. The only other option I had would have been to transfer to the branch of the school in Wisconsin, which closed a couple months later. I've been unable to repay or even bring the loans current enough for forbearance. Is there anything I might be able to do, legally?
Thank you for any insight or help you might be able to give me.
