If her mother doesn't permit it, yes you can get into trouble. Probably more than you ever wanted in your life.

After you get out of jail for harboring as minor among other possible charges, you will have a criminal record for life that will affect your employability.

Yes, you could find yourself in a whole lot of trouble You could be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor to start, and if anything sexual is brought into the picture depending what took place your housing needs will be taken care of for the next three to twenty years. Just for being a nice guy. I'd suggest you take up another hobby than child molestation.
The average life expectancy on the yard in general prison population is about twenty minuets. Give or take nineteen.

Said NO other 16yo girl *ever*. Because "GAWD - they want me to go to school and study, do chores and won't let me play sleepaway camp with my 19yo boyfriend! They HATE me!"

The fact that you can even ask the question indicates that you do not understand how deep the trouble is that you can get into. Did the word JAIL sink into your thick little skull?

At 16 she is not going anywhere her parents do not give her permission to go. And if she leaves anyway there is nothing that will stop her parents, with or without the assistance of law enforcement, from coming to get her and dragging her underaged little bottom back home.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Please clarify if you're talking about the legalities or your personal opinion.
Both. In many states a 16yo can consent (including SC) more directly, the idea that engaging a 16yo in sexual relations in a state where the activity is legal makes on a child molester is not only over the top but deserves a verbal dope slap. In states where its not legal, my opinion doesn't change insomuch as a 16yo is not a child but merely a minor.

You do have a valid point. It is only a 3 year age difference. However, what the dude is proposing is still a VERY bad idea. Harboring a runaway can still get him thrown in jail.
