What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

I WOULD LIKE TO FILE LAWSUIT OR CLAIM AGAINST NYC DEPT OF EDUCATION DUE TO PRINCIPAL REMOVING ONLINE CLASSES REQUIRED FOR HIGHSCHOOL DIPLOMA, RESULTING IN THE SCHOOL NOT ISSUING A DIPLOMA. THE PRINCIPAL STATED THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO. I HAVE PROOF OF THIS FROM THE EMAILS HER AND I SENT BACK AND FORTH. I NEED ASSISTANCE ASAP, CAN SOMEONE HELP?

Dude, reach over and unclick CAPS LOCK. It looks like you're ranting.

Why do you think you have any standing to sue the state? First off, suing the government is specifically difficult. Further, the state is not responsible for whatever your local school principal did. Even if you were suing the right entity, there's no obligation that the school district continue to proivde online courses for you no matter what emails you have.

I certainly hope your communications with the principal were not with the caps lock on.

Is there some new law, specific to NYC, that requires that all courses required for high school graduation be available online?

I am unaware of any New York state requirement mandating this; I have checked my own school district's page and see no such thing mentioned.

Unless there is some requirement by the NYC DOE that ALL courses required for graduation be available online, or that at least the courses that you are interested in be available online, you do not have a strong legal basis for a lawsuit against you school. As New York State's Board of Education has no such mandate, NYC BOE is not in violation.

Is there some reason you cannot take regularly scheduled classes?

I took the regularly scheduled classes, however due to a family death, I had to leave the state for a few weeks. I came back and was informed I had to do a summer school course. I did the course, which was an online class on the iLearnNYC program. The principal stated that there was a deadline that had to be met, and coming toward that deadline, I had a few quizzes left to do (which I would have been able to do in less than 3 hours). The principal removed the classes from my account 2 days before the deadline, and stated that here was nothing that she could do and that I would not be receiving my highschool diploma.

I suspect there are some missing facts here. Why did the principal remove them from your account?

There are no "missing facts." I went online to do the courses, and realized they weren't there. I sent an email and got a response the same day saying they were removed and that it was being looked into (she's the asst principal and the only one with the ability to remove/add/modify the classes, shes in charge of that for summer school). I sent every day for the last 2 days of the deadline, and never got another response. The day after the response, she sent me an email stating that there was nothing she could do and that I would not be able to attend the graduation and receive the diploma.

The "missing facts" are the reason(s) this person removed the online classes from your account. You need to find out why she did this before you can even think about whether or not you have a valid lawsuit.

Jmoney, work with us here a little bit.

In order to take the online courses were there any specific criteria you had to meet, and perhaps did not or could not meet?

She wouldn't give me one.
Did you actually ask her for the reason, or did you just ask her to reinstate you in the online classes? This would make a difference.

That said, I recommend you ask her (again, if you've already asked) specifically for the reason she dropped your account, and if she refuses to give you a reason, ask her boss the same thing. You really really need this reason before you can do anything else.

A few days before this, I reported the school to the chancellor's office and the district superintendent's office, and the principal called me into her office and yelled at the top of her lungs and after that, she was very hostile with me for the weeks upcoming up until the deadline. The principal was on vacation during the incident, however the assistant principal wasn't. Maybe they're taking the anger out on me for reporting the school or something, I'm completely lost to be completely honest. I'll email the principal and see what she says.

(You didn't answer the question asked of you so please answer that one too )

So, is it possible that you could have somehow violated some sort of good conduct policy?

Make sure you ask, very specifically, why you were cut off. Don't beat about the bush around this, say something to the effect of "Why was I cut off?"
