Recently bought a trailer and had title transferred to me by BMV. Now the trailer park manager is calling into question if person who sold me the trailer was the actual previous owner. Not based on the trailer park manager's calling it into question. The trailer park manager has no authority. You currently have valid title through the BMV. Unless someone with actual standing challenges that (and again, that would not be the trailer park manager) AND wins, you own the trailer.Recently bought a trailer and had title transferred to me by BMV. Looks like somebody did some title jumping which is likely illegal in your state but people rarely get caught or punished for doing that.The person who I dealt with claimed to be the title owners son. The lady who signed it was identified by the son as his Mom but didn't identify herself personally. The lot manager is calling their identity into question for reasons I'm not entirely clear on yet.
There are lots of trailer park managers who expect to get trailers for peanuts when people leave, and sometimes sell those trailers over and over again. As long as the "Mom" has no beef I don't see that it's any of the lot manager's business as long as your current title is in your name.
How would the lot manager even know to question the previous owner?
That would depend on the specific wording of the rental agreement that the prior owner had with the park. With that said, I suspect that if the lot manager actually had to right to place some sort of lien on the trailer, then he would have done so already.We'll finally figured out what the lot managers issue with the title was. Apparently the previous owner owed them a lot of money past due lot rent or whatever. They believe they might be entitled to the trailer to cover what they owe them. They feel the previous owner shouldn't be able to sell it to us while still owing them money. So I guess my new question is do they have a legal right to the trailer that is now in our name on the title or if we any way inherit the previous owners past due bills regarding the lot it's on.
It would probably cost more to remove though than to just keep it there and rent to us. I would think.One thing to consider is that the reality is that there is nothing in the law that can force the lot manager to continue allowing the trailer to remain in the lot.
