"Winter parking ticket no info"

So I'm looking for some advice. The city I live in and specifically my neighborhood and street do not have parking signs posted anywhere. I've lived in my house for 7 years and woke up to a parking ticket on my car as it was parked on the street in front of my house.
-parking ticket was issued for "winter parking"
-no signs stating the parking rules anywhere in city

Takes to a friend on the police dept and was told "There is not a lot I can do for you :/. Citations are transferred to the court electronically and immediately. The winter parking ordinance is in place from 10/15 to 4/15 each year and is in place so the plows can clear the streets. We advertise it online and in all the City mailers each year; so, we really try to get the message out. The ordinance is similar to every city within the county. With all that being said, I always hope that officers use common sense and don't cite these violations when the weather is nice."

My advice for your immediate concern would be to pay your ticket. My general advice for the future is to try to pay more attention to the various laws and ordinances in place in your city.

Have you been parking on the street in the winter for the last 7 years?
Could simply be that where you parked was never a problem for the salt or plow trucks and the police never took notice.
Because it is not posted, most towns will take the first one back, believing that it is now proof that you have been made aware...

I wonder where you get your stats from for that statement. Perhaps if you had said "some..." instead of "most..." I wouldn't have felt the need to make this post

That's a ridiculous statement, especially considering we don't know what city or even what state the OP is in.

It was easy. Towns and cities that have winter parking ordinances starting 10/15 and ending 4/15 are rare. Since the OP stated that he/she had been living there for 7 years and wasn't aware, I eliminated cities from the small list.
You are welcome to call the town halls and do your own home work.
