What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MA I'm on ssi and have been saving cash for a while like $600 and I was going to put it in the bank to buy something from amazon. My ssi check is coming around the same time so I will have $1200 in bank but I have no other countable income is that ok I read the limit is $2000

They will see that it's in there. They will want to ask questions and verify the source of the money. If you are on an income based social program, they're going to know, essentially, what you eat for lunch every day. If you want to know specifically how this will affect your SSI, why don't you call your case manager and talk to them about it.

Buy it in a local or brick and mortar store like walmart with cash. The prices at amazon are just not that amazing.

Right. Buy them at Fry's Foods or Kroger stores and you get fuel points that get you a discount at the gas pump.
I had in mind simply purchasing electronic cards on Amazon and then using them for the purchase when the time arrives, but your way actually can give the OP a small (but nice) bonus :)
