What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
These aren't fixtures of the land so just because you inherited the land doesn't make them yours. If they are truly abandoned (such that the owner isn't going to protest things), you can dispose of them. The problem is getting the titled. The avenue for that is called a "bonded title."

Possibly.

But there is a complicated variety of state and local statutes that could make the process quite costly to you before you ever see a nickel from them.

I suggest you start by contacting your local police. It's unlikely that the police will actually do anything about it but could advise you on whatever steps you need to take.

If that doesn't do it for you or you just don't want to spend the money on the process, I suggest you call local wrecking yards and offer the cars to them for free if they haul them away.

I know you see dollar signs spinning in front of your eyes but you may just have to resign yourself to either not getting any money for them or, at worst, having to spend some money to clear the lot.

Abandoned cars

Thank you guys and gals for the replies. I think my best bet would be to speak with the local authorities and possibly end up getting an attorney involved to cover my butt.
A conservative estimate on the cars is close to 150k. About 10 of the cars are very sought after classic cars so I couldn't see having them towed and scrapped. I will be more than willing to just have him come get them but I doubt he will.
Before hiring an attorney I am going to speak with this company that does VIN research. They will send out a letter to the owner of all the cars. Telling them to pick up their car and charge a low storage fee. Charging a storage fee will prevent him from still using property as a storage.
No tow company unless I paid them will come out this far to pick cars up.Which I cannot afford.

Even though it sounds as if it is a rural property where the last owner had his own mini boneyard on site, you may want to get the VIN s and ask the police if they can find out if any were stolen ( for years and years this was something that many rural people got away with doing until some counties began to write or threatened to write up junk vehicle ordinances .

WAIT! OP indicated "bought tax lien property", if so then OP would have no right to remove cars until redemption period ends and the "Tax Deed" is issued. OP, What exactly did you buy?

Finally, if you own the Tax Deed, then why not host an AS-IS auto auction on-site and require payment that day?
Why do you believe the vehicles are part of the purchase of the property?
