My boyfriend's mother and him were separated by dcf long ago. She has died about 2012 and we have finally found one of the addresses where she had once stayed at. It was a privately owned apartment complex in Phoenix, Arizona. If I call and inform the Landlords that she was one of their previous tenants and has passed away, will they be able to disclose any phone numbers, emails, or anything else about her? I am trying to find out information on his mother so we can find where she has been buried.

Frankly, I wouldn't give you any information. I probably wouldn't disclose anything to your boyfriend either - and it's entirely possible that the LL doesn't have any of that information anymore.

With that said, have your boyfriend give it a try. Have him call and politely explain his situation to see if the landlord is sympathetic.

Agree. The LL has no obligation to disclose any information about previous tenants. It would be his choice.

However, your boy friend should be able to get a copy of her death certificate from:

http://www.azdhs.gov/licensing/vital-records/index.php#death-certificates-home

He can also check the locate probate court records for her name:

Luckily, the lady who owns the property was a wonderful woman who is going to try and help me out the best she can!

The county clerk (S) of the county she last resided in can look up her name and using approximate age can at least tell him enough that he may be able to learn more ( I did that for one resident in the group home to learn if his mom was still alive since the clerk looked for death records with her name , sadly though she was living in a nursing home and when she died the nursing home claimed they had no way to notify him ) he would need her full name, and if he is lucky there may be a way to learn who handled her remains which might be literally having to make lots of calls.
