I got pulled over for my tints being to dark. My tints came factory installed just had the car inspected under the new NYC inspection law. My car does not have film it is glass. I took a picture to show the judge that you can see thru the window and to the other side of the other window. What legal recourse do I have. A meter was used and it read 21 but it's no way that dark. You Can see the driver sterling wheel and the passenger clearly.

New York City has no laws or regulations regarding the inspection of motor vehicles, except for medallion taxicabs.

You have no recourse. Which windows were tested and which one(s) were you written for?

It doesn't matter whether it was "film" or the glass that is tinted - it's still illegal. No front side windows come "factory tinted" with a VLT of 21% - that's ridiculous. I think you mean they're dealer installed tints, or...

Rear side glass does come tinted but it's still illegal under state law.

The DMV requires that no vehicle be sold with illegal equipment. You can file a complaint with the DMV, or threaten to, and try to get the dealer to pay for your tickets. They are merely equipment violations with no points.

If you want more information you need to provide more yourself.
