I am in PA. And the company who gave me the promissory note is in South Carolina.
I signed a promissory note for money to help me get started in a retail business to purchase inventory. I am in default now and I was served papers. I can't possibly pay them back as the business I started isn't doing well. What kind of attorney do I need? Thank you.

You need a creditor's attorney admitted to the bar in whatever state the suit was filed in.

Maybe a "debtor's attorney"? Whatever either means.

Which do you need to designate on your application to take the bar exam, creditor or debtor?
