How can I take court action against a debt collector? He is harassing me at work (calling back to back) and when I told him he can no longer call there he responded with I will never stop so get over it. All I have is his phone number and fake name he gave me. How can I go to court to stop the harassment with that little info?

How do you know it is a debt collector calling you?

Have you checked your credit reports to identify the entity calling to collect on the debt?

1 - Identify the creditor (as Quincy suggests).

2 - Record the conversation and get him to say that on the phone, if legal in your state which you failed to identify in spite of the request to do so.

3 - Read the US Fair Dept Collection Practices Act (google it) for your rights and remedies. Your un-named state might also have its own version of the FDCPA.

4 - Sue the collection agency if you can prove a violation.
