So, I was on a business trip in Germany.
I emailed a hotel asking for availability of rooms for me and coworker.
hotel responded with an email indicating yes they would reserve me 2 rooms for 2 nights.
Gave me a price.
On the email, it noted a 48 hour notice to cancel.
I never responded, "YES or acceptance" to the "reservation email" nor did I give them a credit card number.
We had a change in plans and had to go to a different city. I called the hotel the day we were supposed to arrive... and said we were not coming.
Hotel manager (who I think is the owner) said I must pay the full amount for myself and my co-worker.
I said no and hung up.
He does have my email... and has emailed me wanting payment of hotel rooms for not showing up.
In my opinion they have no legal foot to stand on since I never signed anything, I never gave an "acceptance" email nor did I give a credit card number.
Is this wrong or right?
Not sure if anyone knows international law... could a lawyer in Germany successfully prosecute me for this in the USA?
even if I was in the wrong?
The total amount is below 300 US dollars.
Thanks
