What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

What does it mean when it says a warrant was served? Also, under service text it says "was served 4/25/17 by independence police department and posted bond. No bond received at this time." What does that mean?

A judge issues an arrest warrant and an authorized officer executes (or serves) it by arresting the person named on the warrant.

The amount of bond has been set but not yet paid.

Why do you ask?

My cousin hasn't shown up to his house for two days, so we ran his name in MO case net and that showed up. It isn't unusual for him not to show up for days at a time but for some reason his mom was more worried than usual.

He is also an undocumented immigrant. Could he be turned over to ICE? He only has the driving without a license charge in MO for which the warrant was for I guess, but he has a few other charges in a different county in KS.

You can contact the Independence Police Department for information.

I cannot say what will happen to any undocumented immigrant arrested by the police. In some areas of the country, contacting ICE would be more of a risk than in other areas.

Thank you.

I guess I just wanted to know if it's even a reason for them to contact ICE over.

Any arrest can be reason. Any non-arrest apparently can be reason, as well. We live currently in scary crazy times.
I suppose it would all depend on what they want to do. It's not like he wasn't looking for it, so if it happens, it wouldn't be a surprise.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. :)

For the most part, ICE is not going to be contacted unless the arrest was for a felony ... and that's assuming that the county in question is choosing to cooperate with ICE these days. Since ICE typically issues "detainers" and not arrest warrants, many agencies are choosing not to honor those detainers. In some states, like mine, there are court decisions stating that they CANNOT honor them.

I believe that is true in several states. But I fear for undocumented immigrants in other states.

In many of the states where the state and local governments seem to be the most serious about enforcing the law with regards to immigration, ICE has a rather minimal presence, so acting on detainers can be spotty. ICE is hardly all omniscient nor staffed at extraordinarily high levels in the interior. Heck, I remember the days when in the border counties of CA they had sufficient staff on patrol to respond to local police contacts if illegal aliens were contacted and they would take them from there. Those days are long gone and not likely to return anytime soon even if both the political will and the funding were to exist for it.

Thank you for the information.

A few weeks ago, my brother in law got arrested in KS for driving under the influence and the next day was given to ICE. He is still currently in custody. Is a DUI a felony? He, much like my cousin here, has had multiple stops for driving w/out a license, speeding and one other DUI. Since he was arrested in MO, maybe they do things a little differently?

Normally no. But since he had a prior it could, depending upon the time frame, bump the charge up to a felony.

And, it is possible that your brother-in-law was already on the immigration radar due to prior acts or multiple unlawful crossings. If the local government is cooperative with the feds, as they should be, then ICE would have been notified and taken the appropriate steps.
