What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

Our cleaning company was accused of scratching windows of a home builder. The builder sent us a request to pay for the window repair, less the money they owed us. We wrote a check, and a year later, the check has not been cashed.
I have communicated via email with them and have asked them to cash the check. I was told that they are looking for less expensive way to repair the window so I didn't owe so much.
They have the check, but have not cashed it. How long do I owe this debt?

Until it is paid. They can take you to court until the SOL expires.

The check they have likely won't be honored by the bank. If that happens and if they ask you for a replacement check, I would suggest that you comply with the request.

My guess it is was the builder's way of getting out of paying what the builder owed the OP...but the builder isn't prepared to take it so far as to cash the OP's check. Think about it? What sort of ordinary cleaning products would actually scratch windows?

Was it a protective coating that was scratched or did something fall close enough to scratch it but not close enough to break it? (being nosy) other wise as you were told if they present it and the bank wont let them cash it then replace it when they contact you , other wise you might as well say nothing and every month keep subtracting that check when you reconcile your checking account until they actually do something since they told you >>I was told that they are looking for less expensive way to repair the window so I didn't owe so much.
( im wondering if they lost the check and just don't want to admit it
