I'm in Texas and I worked a project where o decommissioned some electronic equipment and shipped it back to the company. The company clearly stated that they would pay the shipping cost. However I'm receiving collection bills. The company said that they would pay the shipping bill however nothing has been done yet and I'm concerned about my credit rating. Please help.

How much are the shipping costs for which you are being billed?

Adjusterjack has offered you what appears to be your best option if you are concerned about having the unpaid bill show up as a negative item on your credit reports. Getting the company in Texas to reimburse you for the shipping costs might be a challenge, however.

Hey, latigo. Where did your post go? I didn't have a chance to respond.

There is an old Indian proverb that says, "Sit on the bank of a river and wait; your enemy's corpse will soon float by."

I hesitate a bit in comparing the forum's disappearing posters to enemy corpses, but the proverb I believe teaches patience. Perhaps the posters have lost their way (or their passwords) and may return to the forum at a later date.

That said, I like your idea of funding my retirement through poster donations, refundable only upon a poster's return and a showing of gratitude for our efforts on his/her behalf. I could totally support that proposal. :D

OP are the shipping bills in your name, or the company's name? If in the company's name, then you needn't worry about your credit rating. (In fact, if the bills are in your name, you can probably resolve this problem quite simply by advising the debt collectors that they should be billing your former company directly...and give them a name and address.)

I'm just saying this because once back in the late 90s I resigned from a job (nicely, gave three weeks' written notice, started the process of searching for my replacement etc.) and the VP of HR was apparently very angry at me for resigning. (Don't know why, but she was, there it is.) Her admin assistant heard the anger and then (in some misguided gesture of loyalty I guess) started forwarding all company correspondence that was addressed to me (pay increase forms, resumes, advertisements, offer letters, confidential employee complaints, invoices, you name it, she sent it) to my home. So maybe this is similar to OP's situation, I dunno. But he shouldn't have to pay the bill.

Beats me where it went. Maybe with Tex. No great loss. Anyway I didn't say "your" old age, I wrote "your'' old age program. Subtle, huh?

Proverb heap foolish as only dumb Indian would camp below friend or foe. Those "rivers" had uses other than for quenching one's thirst. Besides I think you made it up. At least someone is to blame.

Incidentally, is it true that sitting as an "advisor" here (or however the badge reads) has a lot in common with unemployment?

See ya Q

Subtlety has always been your strong suit, latigo. ;)

eerelations, it sounds to me that the bills are being sent to Julw3 in Julw3's name. I agree it would be a lot easier to handle if the bills are sent in the company's name.
