Hello, i am going to be turning 18 in just 3 months and i reside in Pennsylvania with my parents. Up to how long before you turn 18 can you leave your house? I have a friend that has a birthday just days after mine and she has the worst home life. She can not tell her parents she wants to leave or itll make things worse also if she gets the law involved they will make it even worse than that. Please tell me there is something else other than emancipation that she can do? Her parents have most of her family and friends against her.

If she's being abused, she should talk to either CPS or a trusted adult. If she's not willing to do that, she can leave the day she turns 18.

She has tried. They want to resolve the issue and it is making things much worse. Plus it isnt physical and cant prove it... Personally ive heard them.

One man's verbal abuse is another's discipline or conversation. Being yelled at does not necessarily equate to abuse.

Bottom line is that the day your friend turns 18 she can leave. If she leaves before that, her parents and the police could potentially come and get her and could cause legal problems for anyone who helps keep her from her parents.

Have both of you graduated from high school? Do either or both of you have plans to attend college in the fall?

If you are younger than 18 but a high school graduate, you can leave home to attend college - if you have a place to stay (generally on-campus housing).

When your parents give you permission.
