I'm from Massachusetts, and about a year ago I started a recurring payment with a streaming service, every month money would be taken out of my account. When I changed debit cards, I forgot about it, assuming the payments stopped going through, as I wasn't being charged at all. Now, a debt collection service called me and said that I must pay for every month since I cancelled. Does this claim have any merit, or am I being scammed?

Did you continue with the streaming service, forgetting to officially cancel the service or provide the service with your new debt card information?

If so, you owe what you did not pay for the months of service you received.

Cutting off the previous means of payment does not cancel the service.
