Thank you for being the ONLY helpful person who replied to me.
Thank you for fully answering my question, instead of asking personal questions that are unnecessary to be asking. I don't owe anyone an apology. Blue Meanie was being nosey and rude. They owe me an apology. But, I'm not coming back to the site to read an apology or for anything else, since you've answered my question. I'm signing out forever, or if I have some need to ask something else years from now. Thank you so much!!!!When the attorney sues you for the amount outstanding on the debt, you will need to answer the complaint and appear in court with whatever evidence you can scrounge up that supports your story that you paid as agreed.
When the court finds for the attorney, there will be a judgment against you that is collectible for years. Any income or assets you acquire in the future will be vulnerable until the judgment is satisfied.
No one can pay on a debt if they have no money to pay ... but the only way for the debt to go away is to pay or to file for bankruptcy. There are cons to filing for bankruptcy, especially over a $2000 debt. Discuss the pros and cons with a professional in your area, perhaps one at a free legal aid clinic in your state.
Being rude to the volunteers on this site is not a good way to get advice. I think you owe an apology to Blue Meanie. Your rudeness to her was unwarranted.
