So, I'm here in central Ohio with my roommate, who has child support payments that he has to make. Yes, this isn't about me, so there are some details I'll have to ask for.
However, what I do know is that his child support keeps increasing, despite his rate of pay staying the same. It's gotten so bad that we can't pay our bills. It's a struggle to even make rent.... we've been late 3 months in a row, and last time we had to have them cancel an actual eviction that they filed against us. And, what's gotten me to put my foot down and say that we need to seek legal advice is that the child support payments are now claiming far over half of every paycheck, which we were not notified of in advance, and is a drastic increase from what they were taking before. I don't know how I'm going to pay for food or utilities or even my own student loans (I'm in constant fear that they're going to repossess my car, which is just about the last thing they can take from me, at this point).
We have to do something about this, but we have no idea where to start looking or who to ask for help... or even how to go about negotiating of these oppressive child support payments.
We don't even know what's the most relevant information to give right now, so please, just ask us any questions about recent events that may be triggering these increases, or any questions you might need answered to see if we can find a solution to this. Because we can't keep living this way. We can't afford to keep living this way.
