Can my mom get me court-ordered to go to a facility for uncooperative teenagers?

I am a month away from being 17 and have read on multiple sites that you can leave home at 17, that MOST officers won't force you home if you leave. However, that's not what I am concerned about. I ran away from home a few months ago due to uncomfortable and sensitive issues at home. A police report was filed and I was considered a "runaway". I returned home a few days later and my mom said if it happened again, she would take the police reports and have me court-ordered to go to a Teen Challenge facility in Oklahoma for their year long program even though we live in Fort Worth, Texas. So, my question is, can she actually get me court-ordered to go even if I am 17 and a police officer won't force me to go back home, or is she just trying to scare me? I would really appreciate only legal responses instead of opinions. Thank you.

Your mom doesn't even need a court order (assuming the program will accept you.)

She has tried talking me before, but I refused to go, so she said the next time I try to leave, she will get me court-ordered to go since I've refused. Can she really even get a court order saying so? I will be 17 and can technically leave home anyways because most police officers won't do anything since I won't even be considered a juvenile anymore.

Whoever gave you this bad advice deserves a kick on the shin. You have 1 year and 1 month. THEN you can legally, without legal advice, leave home.

The age of majority in your state is 18.

Not 17.

18.

You may rest assured that the police are in no way prohibited from dragging your little ass right back where it belongs if your mother reports you as a runaway. Whoever told you that they won't is overly optimistic.

JArgon varies in TX, there you might be classified as a child in need of supervision but the outcome is the same ...court can order you be placed is a care facility or mom can place you without an order .

Now whether a 17 year old Child in need of sUpervision is on the top of police or court priority list is beyond my crystal ball...

There's also the fact that Mom herself can drag Missy's or Mister's little behind back where it belongs. She doesn't have to rely on law enforcement.

And if kiddo thinks his mom isn't big enough to do that, he needs to learn that there are companies that specialize in transporting difficult cases.
