One of the terms of the contract is that, I'd be paid on August 1,2017 for rehearsals, he didn't pay it until 17 days later. Did he breach the contract and therefore, making it null and void? Am I still bound to the other terms of this contract? There's nothing in the contract stating that he has a grace period of 1year to 30 years to pay. It simply and directly, clearly stated that the stipends are to be paid SPECIFICALLY on the 1st DAY of the months of April, August and November 2017.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Tennessee...

It is a breach of that particular term of the contract, as you have outlined it here, but this does not (necessarily) mean all other terms of the contract are unenforceable.

How have you been harmed by the delay in payment?

When a breach is cured with no harm to the aggrieved party, the aggrieved party has nothing to sue for.

If you want this not to happen next year, assuming your current contract expires, put some monetary penalties for late payment in your new contract.
