What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

I have a step-son who I raised from 1 week old until his mom got custody back when he was around 8. He is now 16 and has been running away from his mom's care for the past few years. His mom sent him to live with his cousin that lives not to far from me and he has been checking up with me and his brothers & sisters. We met him at the mall when he was alone at home when his cousin was working and walked to the mall nearby. He was out last weekend and I picked him up and took him to church and to get something to eat and dropped him back off at his cousins house. I have not been with his dad since January 2010 when he almost killed our 11 week old daughter. My step-son's mom left a voicemail on my phone saying that if I see her son again behind her back that she is going to press charges against me. Can she get an order against me or keep me from providing support to him? He tells me that he was being abused by his mom and step dad and that is why he doesn't want to be there. I have contacted CPS a few times when I knew he was out living on the streets and smoking weed with his "friends". He ran away for about a month in April this year and when he tried to go home his mom told him that he could not stay and to leave. I went to him to make sure he was safe (at the side of the gas station) and called the police. The police never showed up so then I drove him to the police station. However, after everything the police nor CPS were continuing to place him in her home. I know I don't have legal rights to him, I have not allowed him to stay the night, and if I find out he is on the streets I help him get what he needs and get to a shelter or to where he is staying (like with his cousin). I don't know what to do other than to help him, but I have 3 other kids and need to know if his mom could end up filing some kind of charges against me. Thanks, Amanda

Yes, she could cause problems for you. I am not sure that she could succeed in getting you criminally charged in the long term, but she could cause all kinds of problems for you in the short term.

Yes she can. Because quite frankly, you could be found to be interfering with mom's custody. What you do is call his mother and let him know you can drop him off at HER house.

And every time you have to do that report it to CPS and the police.
