What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Louisiana
I just received a letter with a DA stamp (non certified) saying that if I did not appear Alabama in a week that an arrest warrant will be issued. When I called, the lady said it was 18years ago for 15$. I thought it was a scam but I don't know. The place and number check out with the states courthouse number. They wouldn't provide any proof and also said that the certified letter sent out 18yrs ago was returned to merchant. The bank and the merchant doesn't have any records dating back that far. (I called them)

I am rather astonished that a DA would choose to prosecute an 18 year old NSF check for $15.00...particularly against a non-local resident. Most DA's would not waste their resources on something like that.

However, apparently this DA has chosen to do so. Have you asked them if there is a way to resolve the situation without you making a personal appearance, since you are unable to travel to Alabama at this time?
