Where do i find info

Hi.
how do i find exactly where a fam .member filed for guardianship for my son ? Ive called courts in county where i live and county where she lives. They find nothing about it in system !! Maybe she just had temp and doesnt it expire ? Anyway how do i find filling info ect. Or what do i do.??????? And she is not forthcoming to information and my son is with me . i need to enroll him in school so i need birth certificate ect. I live in cali. I dont know what her problem i asked her to file paper work. To get this taken care of. She say she will but obviously hasnt and no response from her.

Well, there's obviously some sort of dysfunction between you and your "family member." Maybe she's just blowing smoke and hasn't filed anything. For her to seek guardianship you would have to have been served a summons and complaint from a court with a case number and judge's or court clerk's signature, probably served personally by a process server coming to your door.

You don't need her to file anything.

If you need a birth certificate go online to the birth records website where your son was born and order one.

Beyond that, what else do you think she needs to do that you can't do for yourself?

If there's no record of the guardianship, and your family member isn't taking steps to enforce the guardianship, then why can't you just go along like any other parent?

Also, what happened to your original copy of the birth certificate?

Another thought: Why are you only just now enrolling him? Have you gathered records from your child's previous school?
