Electricity disconnected due to neighbor a stealing power

The LL evicted the neighbors gave them an automatic eviction today at 8 am they have 30 days from today . This all started yesterday morning at 8am and the power was disconnected from the pole at 9am . My father who is a certified electrician gave the LL the proper items to fix the meter box and splitter thing . The LL worked in it some yesterday and has been there for hours today but it's still not fixed and once he does get it fixed it has to be inspected . I see this being a long process

It's almost certainly ILLEGAL for the landlord (presuming they are not an electrian) to do any work on this house. The landlord should stop messing around and call in an electrician (either your father or someone else qualified).

That's not an eviction - that's a termination of tenancy. Only a court can grant an eviction.

I was thinking the same thing.

Otherwise, OP really does have grounds for a beef with the LL. In addition to the added time without electricity, OP gets to worry about whether LL's wiring is safe.

In order to have it reconnected it needs to be inspected by your cities building department. And they need a proper licensed electrician to pull the permit.

NatashaLynn can your dad tell you if he knows if your city allows property owners to do own electrical or plumbing work when its a two unit or a single family home ( inspections would know the answer, but with the fact that the line has been cut to the home its likely inspections might have to inspect it.) BTW you don't share a basement with the neighbor do you ? , if you do then its time daily go into it incase they try to steal electric from you! AS to what your city inspections desk will or wont do , this is truly a local issue, when I lived in Minneapolis something like this would have generated a 24 hour repair order from the city or they would have condemned the place and forced the tenants to vacate. The only thing that was better about it was when a condemnation happens in mpls a landlord has 5 days to return the tenants damage deposit or a penalty is added. Last for now, if you have any outdoor outlets pay attention to them incase the neighbor steals from you via extension cord thru his or her window to your outside outlet.

I don't know of any place anywhere in the US where you can pull an electrical permit for a 100% rental property as an unlicensed homeowner.

I know of no jurisdiction that allows a non-resident landlord to go dabbling in electrical wiring, even in single family detached, let alone multiunit buildings.

Does NOT bode well if there are no proper permits posted and a licensed electrician at least supervising the job ...and to cut a couple of jumped connections , put in a couple of meter bases and proper feeds should not be more than 1 full days work for somebody who knows what they are doing, has the right supples and has the right tools .

JUst where is your units breaker panel and main disconnect located relative to the meter base and your portion of duplex?
