What is the name of your state (only U.S. law. Oregon.
A judgement was awarded against me back in 2009. I just found out saturday via letter by lawyer and they froze my savings account and said they would apply levy on 12/5. It is for almost double the original debt. Can I challenge the levy, in order to pay a lessor amount? How? Any help would be appreciated.

If you expect to get by with deducting from your garnished savings account only the face amount of the judgment, you will need to con the judgment creditor into agreeing to waive all interim costs and accrued interest for 8 years (the current rate being 9% per annum).

And if you are successful, you might have a rewarding future as a confidence artist.

I believe that another option that has just as much of a chance at working would start with a DeLorean and a working flux capacitor...

The time to pay the lesser amount was when you first incurred the debt.

You can try offering a discounted lump sum cash settlement but you'd better have the cash to back it up because the creditor isn't going to agree to a payment plan since it already has one (your paycheck) that doesn't rely on your promises.

What "paycheck"?! A "lump sum cash settlement"?

Work on your reading skills. The judgment creditor has him by the throat not his shirt tail!
