i got into a car accident while driving for a taxi cab, the company was set up so they would carry insurance on the vehicles. The owner failed to actually have the taxi insured. I was later on sued and settled in court. I was making payments and one of my payments were late. I got a notification later on that my license would be suspended unless i was able to pay the amount in full which was close to $19000. My license was in fact suspended and due to this i have missed out on many job opportunities. Is there anyway for me to get my license back, and was this actually a legal suspension of them? Im from Ohio, and everywhere i have looked it says they cannot do this. Also my payments were being directed to a law firm and they are the ones that say they have the authority to suspend my license

Well, a lawyer can't suspend it, but they can certainly tell the BMV that the judgment is not being paid and that will get you suspended.

You're then on the hook until one of three things happens:
1. You pay (or get on a payment plan)
2. A court says you don't have to pay anymore
3. You get it discharged in bankruptcy.

A limited license may be available to you.
You'll need to do SR-22 when you reinstate (or before a limited license will be issued).

Right, the BMV was notified by the other party that you were not paying the judgment, as agreed, and the BMV suspended your license. The other party (the attorney) didn't suspend your license, the BMV did. You DO understand that, right?
