I am in Oklahoma. We lost our home in a fire on 2016. I do not have documents with exact dates or amounts at this time but Love, Beal and Nixon purchased a debt from Beneficial. We had never heard of Love, Beal and Nixon until we rec'd (via mail) a judgement from the court. We had never received any notification of a court date either. So we have been paying this company monthly for maybe 10 years. We realized that the interest is ungodly and it seems we will never get it paid off but we owed the money and didn't know what else to do. Recently my husband has been making less money (his job changed) and we tried working with them to reduce the payments, only able to pay partial in December. We made the payment and then were floored to see they garnished EVERYTHING in our checking account. I am hoping we have been stupid all this time by not seeking legal help. We are at a point if we have to continue paying them and never getting ahead, we will no longer be able to afford medication and other life necessities. My husband is blind in one eye and without his glaucoma drops, he will go blind in the other. It isn't that we are trying to get out of the debt, but we feel we have already paid it with all this excess interest. I don't know how often they can garnish our checking account. I know we are not able to fight them ourselves but I am looking for names of qualified attorneys in the Enid and Oklahoma City area to deal with this type of debt and what our options may be. Thanks.

I'm sorry, but this is not an attorney referral service. You should check out your state's BAR association website or http://www.attorneypages.com

With that said, you may want to consider bankruptcy.
