Me and my husband made numerous of videos which were shared on line with groups etc. Obviously this was all in the past (videos/pictures etc) We are going through separation however and I now have a new boyfriend. My ex-husband keeps threatening to send printed off pictures to my new boyfriends work & family in another country whenever we fall out (saved text messages to prove) . He also gets very verbally abusive and threatening on an text messages which I have saved.

What rights do I? Is he breaking the law? I understand the revenge porn piece slightly but does this change with the videos being active?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FL Sexual cyberharassment law

After a quick read of the Florida "Revenge Port" law I don't think it would be applicable because of the first paragraph. "(a) A person depicted in a sexually explicit image taken with the person’s consent has a reasonable expectation that the image will remain private."

You had no reasonable expectation they would remain private because you knowingly shared them online with "groups etc."

Now if he is saying your do X or he will send send the photos then you are into extortion.

I agree it may be extortion....but my suggestion is read the FL definition of same and be sure to give EX enough rope to hang himself and docuement it BEFORE you ring the alarm bells.

So you are committing adultery because you are not divorced and already have a new partner?

I understand that these would not remain private because of the group etc. But he is threatening to send them to family/friends/work colleagues who would not necessarily have access to these videos. These are something he is making people aware of and doing if for defamatory reasons

It is NOT defamatory. It is true.

OK Ohiogal. But does that give him the right to do what he is threatening to do? Or do I have an option here?
It was posted PUBLICLY on the internet. Things that are PUBLIC are not considered private. You chose to participate in that. Your option is to not let it bother you. What does he want to prevent him from mailing it to your adulterous lover's family?
