Hi ! Hopefully someone can help me. I live in Virginia and my significant other is trying to divorce his wife. Both have signed the initial paper saying they agree to an uncontested divorce and he filed the papers with the Clerk of Court. That was 4 months ago. He called and was told, by the Clerk's office, that there were additional steps but he would need to talk to a lawyer. He has none as it was uncontested and they were separated for almost 10 years. I went through a divorce last year but I had a lawyer and am unaware of all the steps they took. Can anyone steer us in the right direction for getting this done without hiring a lawyer ? I really appreciate any and all help :)

Please have one of the legally involved parties (hint...not you) join the site and ask his/her own questions. Thank You for your understanding.... Blue

Related thought....A marriage which lasts 10 years and a few days prior to divorce can sometimes be critical later on as to collecting SS benefits based on spousal record ....have SO check the point .
