Impersonating a lawyer

I read the letter. It was put up on social media. Other people saw it as well but I don't think they'd do anything about it. I'm concerned for the lawyer. The letter does not make him look good at all. I don't know if the lawyer already knows about it and I think he should be told about it just in case. I don't personally know the people involved. I just assume most lawyers would want to know if their name, firm address, email address were being used to send a letter with empty threats, or any threats.

I wasn't really thinking about that. Thanks for reminding me. I suppose he probably has staff to look up Facebook but not necessarily all the social media forums. Oh well. He probably will find out about it soon enough. So you think I should just let it go? I have this gnawing feeling that there's a small chance he doesn't know yet. I was just going to be maybe yet another source informing him just in case.

It was impersonation to make empty threats to someone that he better make a public statement and apologize -- could that be considered "some gain" for the author of the letter?

Yes, I would like to contact the attorney. I just don't know all the evidence or questions he's going to ask me. So you're probably thinking why not just ask him come Monday, but I want to keep the exchange as short and simple as possible. The people involved are celebrities and I don't want to discover one day that I'm in the news or perhaps worse, make the situation worse for the person who was sent the threatening letter.

I thought it would be a remote possibility because celebs are involved, or at least C list celebrities, and I don't personally know this lawyer and I was probably getting ahead of myself. I wrote "perhaps worse" as referring to making the situation worse for the person who was sent the threatening letter. Since I don't personally know this lawyer, it crossed my mind he might accuse the recipient of the letter of having his agent or representative send an anonymous and out-of-the blue communication to him and make him look bad. But of course as I said I'm not his representative or agent and since I guess I'll be speaking with the lawyer's assistant, I guess it's not so anonymous.
