Can I reinstate a corporation that I had that dissolved 8 years ago?
Can I reinstate that same company name? What does that take? I would probably need a new tax ID?

I suggest you see a business attorney and tax attorney or other tax professional in your state. There are a lot of legal and tax consideration at work here. Reinstating the old business may not be a good idea, depending on what the deal was with that business when you dissolved it. Also, it may be that operating the business as a corporation may not be the best choice; operating as a LLC or some other entity might be better. In order to figure out what would work best for you the details of the old corproation and what you want to do now are important.

I agree that it is never a bad idea to have a business law attorney personally review business plans. The answer to Ron's question, though, is it is possible for Ron to restore his corporation if that is what he wants to do.

True, but I wanted to alert him to the possibility that reactivating an old corporation is sometimes not wise, something he may not have known. ;)

True. :)

It could be more costly for him to re activate his old corporation, too, than it would be to start over.

But the choice is there for him to make. He would be smart to make his choice after discussing his options with a professional (or two) in his area.
