What is the name of your state?texas I’m asking on behalf of a 17 year old. So we have Been searching the web and. Finding so many different answers for this question. Every other answer is yes or no so we are trying to get a solid answer for someone that kinda knows the real answer so our question is that if a 17 year old has a permanent place to stay can he/she move out at 17 if we tell the parents where they are going and is there any way for the parents to bring them back home if they are not in danger?

No. The police in TX might not pursue the 17 year old as a runaway if the 17 year old is living with family, but otherwise whomever harbors the 17 year old could possibly be a charged with custodial interference or even worse crimes.

Who are you in this situation.

Then tell your friend to be smart and stay home until they are a legal adult at age 18.
It wouldn’t really be smart for her to stay in the position she is in she is getting sexually harassed by her grandfather and her grandmother is doing nothing and the mother doesn’t care for or feed the child

Then she needs to speak to a school counselor or other mandated reporter to get her removed from the home and placed somewhere else safely and legally. That is generally going to mean foster care, but it could be kinship placement foster care.

She's 17 and can feed herself. Tell her t call CPS about the sexual harassment.

Curious...What exactly is Gramps doing that she feels is sexually harassing?

She has two choices; she can stay where she is until she is 18, or she can report it and see if the state will remove her from the home. At the age of 18, she can go anywhere she wants and no one can second-guess her. At 17, the cops may or may not return her to her home but her parents absolutely have the right to bring her back home. The age at which she can move out without parental permission is 18. It is not 17.

Is that quite clear enough for you?

She feels to embarrassed to tell me but I don’t know
Do you actually know her or just online? If it's just online, how do you know she's telling the truth and not just using the story to garner sympathy and help from you? You don't. Don't waste your time if this is an online friend. You don't know anything about her except that stories she's feeding you.

no we are not online friends I don’t know who came up with that one we are actually really close friend and I know her family really well but we have just gotten off of the Texas attorney generals website and have gotten information that is really mor helpful then people not from Texas that don’t know the different loopholes and she can leave as long as she tells the parents and can not be considered a “missing child” and due to the fact the percents would know if her wear abouts the police can not forcefully take her back home unles she is in danger due to her age
