California .

I was just recently arrested and booked for PC647F. I was fingerprinted and had my mugshot taken. I was released after 5 hours . When released I wasn’t given any paperwork nor did I sign anything other than the bag for my belongings. When getting finger printed I asked a deputy what I was being charged with and she said that I wasn’t being charged with anything. When I look online for booking records it shows I was charged with PC647F and provides a case number. I never received a ticket or court date. Am I out of the clear ? Or will I receive a courdate and citation in the mail?

CA PC647 Except as provided in paragraph (5) of subdivision (b) and subdivision (l), every person who commits any of the following acts is guilty of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor:
(f) Who is found in any public place under the influence of intoxicating liquor, any drug, controlled substance, toluene, or any combination of any intoxicating liquor, drug, controlled substance, or toluene, in a condition that he or she is unable to exercise care for his or her own safety or the safety of others, or by reason of his or her being under the influence of intoxicating liquor, any drug, controlled substance, toluene, or any combination of any intoxicating liquor, drug, or toluene, interferes with or obstructs or prevents the free use of any street, sidewalk, or other public way.
I never received a ticket or court date.
What was the date of your arrest?

Am I out of the clear ?
I doubt it.

Or will I receive a courdate and citation in the mail?
Probably.

I suggest you check the case number with whatever local courts handle misdemeanors. If the docket doesn't help, a phone call certainly will.

I also just saw on booking site there is a PC836 under authority category. What does this mean?

Most agencies and prosecutors choose not to pursue charges for PC 647(f) - public intoxication. The matter is most often resolved by the arrest and no charges are filed pursuant to PC 849(b) noting that the arrest was for inebriation only, and that no criminal prosecution is desired. If charges were pending, you should have been released with a citation (a notice to appear) for a future court date. You should also have received a PC 849(b) form if no charges were to be sought, but, this is an action that too many officers and agencies fail to follow through on so if one was not included in your release paperwork, then it's likely an oversight. You can always check with the jail to see if they have any record of the 849 release.
